FCCLA/FACS has had a very busy week! We gathered up the last of the Cookies for Santa orders. The cookies will be delivered on Thursday, December 19th. FCCLA had a wonderful Christmas party on Thursday night at the school. Lots of fun was had by all... games, food, and laughter!!! On Friday, the Home/Interior Design class, Sewing class, and FCCLA went on a group field trip. Our first stop was to view Mrs Pickle's home and it's design elements. We then visited two thrift stores for a fun upcycling assignment for Sewing. After eating lunch, we visited Baxter Retirement Village where our students sang Christmas carols with the residents, listened to their stories of Christmases past, and shared cookies and cards with them. What a wonderful experience for ALL of us! Making memories!

Congratulations to Callie Smith, Saydie Alvarado, and Massey Hayes for being named Academic All-State for MHSGCA Girls Golf.

Due to the possibility of rain Friday night, the Christmas program will be in the gym at 6. The Title I Night will still be in the cafeteria at 5. Please come and enjoy the holiday activities with us and hear some great music the students have been working on!

Bakersfield R-IV WILL be in session tomorrow! Power is back on. With the exception of a few minor inconveniences on the stage end of the gym that we can work around, the campus will be ready for students tomorrow. Traffic will operate with normal pick up and drop off procedures.

The fire has been contained, all students have been safely dismissed and we are continuing to work with first responders and the fire department. It appears the cause of the fire was an HVAC unit and damage is limited to the west end of the gym wall. Power is still out for the high school and middle school. Phones are back on in the Superintendent's Office and the Elementary Office.
We would like to sincerely thank all the students and staff for the quick response to the evacuation. The damage was limited thanks to quick response by our maintenance director, Jason Marsh.
The response from the local first responders was tremendous and very much appreciated! Fire departments from Bakersfield, Tecumseh, Gainesville, Caulfield, Gamaliel and West Plains as well as MO Highway Patrol, Howell-Oregon Electric, Ozark County Ambulance and Howell County Fire and Rescue assisted.

The Boys Basketball Game for tonight is getting moved to Mountain View Liberty.
